The motor is an important component of many robots. If the microcontroller is the brain of a robot, the motors can be seen as its muscles. Movement is only created through the interaction between the motor and the control unit.
In the ‘RoboLoco Sound Machine’ performance, various motors are used and controlled to produce sounds and rhythms. Sensors such as piezos and coils pick up these frequencies and make them audible. This creates a sounding hybrid machine that combines mechanical and electronic elements. The sounds in the performance are consciously controlled, but also contain a random element that allows the spirit in the machine to emerge.

Oliver Jaeggi is a scientist in the field of environmental chemistry and a producer of electronic music. He has collaborated in many different projects (System der Dinge, kombox, omega attraktor) and released his music on tape, CD, vinyl and online. 2014 he started playing solo live sets with hardware synthesizers and sequencers as omega attraktor. The setup also includes self-made DIY sound circuits in order to expand the sonic possibilities. For live performances he also collaborates with other musicians in a more experimental context.
As a member of the Swiss Mechatronic Art Society(SGMK) he developed und performed Workshops for artists, children and schools. Since 2012 he is organizing the SGMK Homemade summercamp, a collaborative work and research week with international participants. During this week projects on sound, robotics or visuals are discussed and realized. From 2015 to 2019 he was president of SGMK and now is still board member. He conducted workshops in the MFRU Festival 2016 in Maribor and a biohacking workshop in BioTehna Lab in Ljubljana. For the 10 years anniversary of SGMK (2016) he was part of the organizing team of the „Festival der mechatronischen Kuenste“. In 2018 and 2019 he was co organizer of the "Flick the world" Festival in Rote Fabrik Zuerich.
