“NO JOB IS SAFE” is an AI-powered fortune-telling machine that recaptures the nostalgic charm of of the fortune-telling machines from the early 20th century and the penny arcade era of the late 1970s. In a time where the fear of being replaced by technology is as relevant as ever, this machine provides a tongue-in-cheek commentary: not even a fortune tellers' job is safe.
After the knowledge-seeker selects a topic and releases the marble onto it’s path of destiny, it travels into the underbelly of the machine.
The machine takes up a life of its own: It eyes its subject up with it’s giant cyclops eye, throws the dice and lays the cards. Each of the many characters hidden in the cards serves up their wisdom in a unique way.
MISFIT STUDIO was the product of the artistic collaboration between Hanna Lisa Franz and Dario Breitenstein, as well as a Studio under the same Name that created interactive spacial experiences. In their work, they combine design and technology to create magical moments.
