Who hasn‘t spent an hour or two this week repeatedly sliding fingers gently across device screens, hoping to find something—a bit of amusement, distraction from the day, a recognizable pattern perhaps? One image after another, strung end-to-end, until you can’t even notice the space between them anymore. Just a few hours ago, you probably also prepared some food, broke it into pieces and moved it towards your mouth in the hopes of satisfying your morning appetite. One chew after another, smoothing out the borders between morsels, until you were left with a fluid, digestible slurry. Masticate Animate explores the sensory overlaps between seeing and eating and what the human body does to help us string together a sequence of events. You are invited to eat and to see.
